Oklahoma City, OK – October 1, 2020 — The Putnam City Schools Foundation hosted its 24th Annual Golf Tournament on Monday, September 21. The Foundation expects to net over $35k to support programs to enhance and enrich educational opportunities of children in Putnam City Schools.
Since its formation in 1987, the Foundation has distributed over $3.5 million to Putnam City Schools, funding programs such as STEM Labs, YES! Grants for Teachers, and Early Birds parent education classes. Most recently, 3,300 reusable masks and hand sanitizer were provided to all school district employees.
“The 24th Annual Golf Tournament at The Greens Golf and Country Club was a record breaking success this year! The weather was perfect and the competition was fun and exciting. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event. Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped organize it. We couldn’t have done it without you,” said Patrick Ivey, Foundation Trustee and tournament chairman.
Tournament participants enjoyed a variety of contests in addition to the 18 holes of tournament play. Activities included long putt and straight line drive competitions, and a chance to win a Rolex watch in the hole in one challenge from BC Clark Jewelers.
“The tournament exceeded our expectations in so many ways, and we could not be more thankful for the support of our Putnam City vendors and sponsors. Hosting these supporters in a lovely outdoor environment provided an opportunity for fellowship and allowed everyone to enjoy a great day of golf while being mindful of social distancing due to the pandemic,” said Foundation President Jennifer Seal.
Sponsors are always a key factor to the success of any fundraiser and this event was no exception. The impressive list of tournament sponsors included Reed Architecture and Interiors, HP Engineering, American Fidelity, First Bethany Bank and Trust, First United Bank, Granite Re, Independent Insurance Agents of Greater OKC, Kerr 3 Architects, People Source, Piper Weatherford of Oklahoma, Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 344, Red Sky Constructors, Sodexo, and Stephen L. Smith Corporation.
Plans are already underway to make the Silver Anniversary tournament in September 2021 even more exciting. Visit www.pcf4kids.org or call (405) 495-5200 ext.1205 to learn more.
