Foundation Gearing Up for Wall of Fame Celebration
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK May 3, 2021 -- The Putnam City Schools Foundation is pleased to announce its upcoming Wall of Fame Celebration honoring Dr. Greg Walton. The induction and dinner will be held on Thursday, Jun. 24 at the historic Farmers Public Market in Oklahoma City.
Walton graduated from Putnam City High School in 1980 before attending Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma medical school. He is co-owner of the WeightWise Bariatric Program in Edmond, Oklahoma which has helped over 7,500 people transform their lives and find lifetime health.
“The Trustees and I are so excited to host this safe in-person event to honor a man who has helped so many lead more fulfilling lives. Dr. Walton’s patients know best why he deserves to be inducted into our Wall of Fame,” said Foundation President Jennifer Seal.
Started in 2004, the Wall of Fame was created to honor distinguished Putnam City alumni. Past honorees include Steve Largent, James Marsden, and Neal McCaleb. The Wall of Fame resides in the Putnam City Schools administration building as a collection of the honorees’ portraits.
In addition to the induction of the honoree, the event will recognize Putnam City’s Teachers of the Year and highlight various programs in the district. The Foundation will also recognize a Volunteer of the Year, Community Partner of the Year, and Corporate Partner of the Year.
“COVID brought challenges, but it also revealed some dedicated friends of public education in Putnam City, and we wanted the opportunity to thank these people and businesses publically,” said Board Chair DiAnne Bryant.
Proceeds from the event will support key Foundation initiatives including grants for classroom teachers, English language literacy courses for parents, and the Early Birds school readiness program.
The community is invited to attend and tickets are available now at www.pcf4kids.org or by calling the Foundation office at 405-495-5200 ext. 1205.
