Guess Who’s Back? Kelly’s Back!
The children in Putnam City are so lucky. For over 30 years, they’ve had a champion in Kelly Suchy. She’s been a student in our district, a teacher, a principal (she was my boss for a time!) and the leader of SmartStart. Though she retired last December, her heart is still in Putnam City. That is why we are so grateful to have hired her as the Putnam City High School feeder pattern CAST Liaison. I wanted you to get to know her a bit, so we did a little interview!
Jennifer: Kelly, what excites you most about your new position?
Kelly: I am so excited about continuing to provide resources to Putnam City families in the Putnam City community. There is a lot on the plates of our educators today and I want to assist in working together to help people.
Jennifer: What is a favorite memory from growing up in PC?
Kelly: Probably my most favorite memory is the amazing friendships I made in Putnam City. I have friends whom I made at Windsor Hills Elementary that we went through Mayfield, PC West and OU and still remain friends today!
Jennifer: As a teacher and principal in the district, what kind of help did you need or want from the community?
Kelly: As a teacher and an administrator, I realized the wealth of resources that the Putnam City community has to offer. Through organizations like Smart Start Central Oklahoma, we worked to provide families with tools to help little ones have a "smart start" in school. Also working with places like Kids Eyesight, we were able to do free vision screenings for children. I think community resources are critical to the success of our schools.
Jennifer: What goals do you have for your new role?
Kelly: My goals are to assist the teachers, administrators and families in any needs that they might have. I want to build a relationship with those people and provide for their needs in any way that can make their jobs easier and more meaningful.
