“We are not the holes in our shoes. We are not the tattered clothing we sometimes wear.”

CareShare has always provided coats and shoes, but as the program grew, we decided to name it after the founder, Penny Poe. Each week a team of volunteers fulfills the coat and shoe needs of children all over the district. Those needs are identified by teachers and other caring adults. Ms. Poe, a counselor, said that having warm clothing is essential for a child’s self-esteem. Penny’s Closet aims to make sure that our children don’t lack any due to a solvable problem.
