Did you know it's now easier than ever to join Friends of the Foundation? This group of loyal staff members donates an amount of their choosing to the PC Foundation through a payroll deduction each month.
But if you haven't signed up yet, you can do that on our website HERE - it's that simple! For those who sign up before September 10th, you'll be entered into a drawing for a Friends-themed prize pack AND a $50 Visa Gift Card. If you're already a Friend, increase your monthly gift and be entered as well.
The fine print: New Members - A monthly payroll deduction in any amount = 1 entry, $5 = 2 entries, $10 = 3 entries, $15 = 4 entries. Current Members - A $5 upgrade in your monthly payroll deduction = 1 entry. Plus, each additional $5 upgrade = 1 entry.

Welcome Kelly, Jacob, and DiAnne!
|
|
Thanks to a generous grant from the Kirkpatrick Foundation, the Putnam City Schools Foundation expanded its Community and Schools Together program to serve the entire district. We are excited to welcome Kelly Suchy, Jacob Baccus, and DiAnne Bryant to serve as CAST Liaisons. Kelly grew up in Putnam City and worked for the district in several capacities before retiring last December after more than three decades. Jacob's background in community organizing and non-profit work makes him a perfect fit to help us connect the needs in our schools with the community's willingness to help. DiAnne may be a familiar face to you. She was a member of our Board of Trustees for several years, most recently serving as Chair, and is a PC alum. Reach out to them if you have an organization that would like to help our children reach new heights!

Eva Sharp's second graders at Tulakes Elementary received chair pockets to store their schools supplies, helping them stay organized and ready to learn! As you can see, they were so grateful their teacher received a YES! Grant. Our donors made it possible for the Foundation to fill this need and so many others last year. This was just one of 65 grants totaling more than $41,000 awarded last year! This program would not happen without your support - THANK YOU! Visit our website to learn more about the YES! Grant program.

For those who have been in Putnam City more than eight years, the name Paul Hurst might ring a bell. Paul served as superintendent of PCSD from 2008 to 2013. He retired to help his mother more, but now he's back serving our district in a new capacity. As the incoming Chair of the PC Foundation Board of Trustees, we had a few questions for him:
|
Why are you on the PC Foundation Board?
In my previous interactions with the PC Foundation Board of Trustees and its staff, I was always impressed with the talent and enthusiasm exhibited in service to the children, families, and staff of the Putnam City Schools. Further, the thoughtful development and sustainability of ongoing programs and opportunities have been most meaningful to me. I simply felt that I wanted to reengage with a motivated group of patrons in an effort to support the mission of the Foundation.
What is your favorite program that the PC Foundation conducts?
While the wonderful programs and services provided by the work of the foundation are many and varied, the one that might be considered my favorite is the support of the Early Birds program. A child's readiness for school is so critically important in the early years of formal education. The fact that this program thoroughly engages parents and family members in the aspects of child development is so helpful in the readiness of young learners.
What do you hope to accomplish during your tenure as Board Chairman?
One of my primary interests as chair of the board is to assist in the maintenance and growth of a positive, collaborative board culture. The environment must be inclusive and built on a basis of trust and confidence. I want to work with the President and staff in a manner that takes advantage of their talent to build a sound future for the foundation. I do also wish to represent the foundation within the district and community in concert with district leadership as much as possible.
