I just can’t tell you how sweet it was with words, so we’ll have a few extra pictures for this week’s blog. Look at how cute they are!!
Let me back up. Each time my board meets, we go to a different Putnam City School which gives the board members an opportunity to meet some of our wonderful staff and hopefully see a project or two that has been funded by the PC Foundation. This month we went to Lake Park Elementary School. Their teachers really believe that the Foundation will help, because they have asked for – and gotten several grants from us in the past two years. We are happy to help! As long as we have money, we’ll keep giving!
One special thing about Lake Park is they have a higher population than average of students with unique needs. This means they have teachers with unique abilities to inspire those children. Our board members benefitted from one of these fun activities that a special group of Lake Park children offers – the coffee cart!
We ordered our drinks from a Google form beforehand, and towards the end of our meeting, the cart showed up escorted by several students. They offered us cream and sugar, took our money, and even said “thank you.” Each child had a part to play, no matter their abilities or limitations. It was truly magical. Our board members’ faces beamed, and some of us had tears in our eyes.
Again I ask, is this news? I suppose not according to the stories I see on the television, but I’ll be darned if it isn’t news-worthy.
