English Language Literacy classes provide training to immigrant parents and youth in Putnam City Schools. Individuals receive instruction in speaking, listening, reading, and writing English to enable them to overcome the language barrier.
Parents participating in these classes feel more secure in their jobs, are better able to communicate with their child’s teachers, and have more self-confidence when out in public. The curriculum has financial literacy and civics infused throughout.
Class participants share the Impact:
- “I can get more involved in the activities that my children have in school.”
- “I’ve built a closer relationship with my children.”
- “My goal is to keep learning the English language to be a bilingual person and to make the American dream come true.”
