Strange Days Indeed

By now most of you are aware that all schools in Oklahoma are moving to a distance learning model for the remainder of this school year. Putnam City is no different, and a team of our academic leaders has been meeting virtually for the past few weeks to figure out the best way to execute the program. It has not been easy trying to ensure they offer equitable opportunities for over 19,500 children with unique learning needs. But the plan is together, and the program starts on Monday.

Unfortunately, there are hundreds of children who do not have access to technology at home, thus making the challenge of distance learning greater. The District asked the Foundation to find supplies to create kits for the children. We are working to do that as we speak. We’ve already found three churches who will serve as pick-up sites for parents next week. All we need are the supplies.

We are finding new ways to be the support system we are meant to be for the children and teachers in our district. We have put up a whole new tab on our website that is full of resources to help us through this challenging time: www.pcf4kids.org/covid-19-resources. It has information about COVID, learning resources for parents, links to mental health resources, and much more. It gets updated frequently, so please check back often.

We are weathering a great challenge as a nation and the Foundation is no different, but rest assured that we are looking for ways to innovate and help our children be their best during this crisis. If you have ideas for how we can do more, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me personally.
