"Shining Star" Celebration honoring James Marsden-A Night to Remember

On Tuesday, April 20, over 500 people attended a fun-filled celebration as we honored 1991 PC North graduate and Hollywood actor, James Marsden as this year's recipient of the Putnam City Foundation Wall of Fame honor.  Marsden is known for his roles in X-Men, 27 Dresses, Superman Returns, The Notebook, and Hairspray.

Marsden was thrilled to accept the honor, and told the audience at the beginning of his speech he would have to read from his notes as this was the most nervous he'd been in 16 years of acting.  He thanked his family for believing in him and allowing him to "follow his dream".  He thanked his teachers and Putnam City schools for giving him the education and providing him with the tools he needed to be successful in his acting career.  Teachers who made a significant impact on him in the Putnam City district and were in attendance to honor him Tuesday evening include Rose Mary (Martinez) Baker, Kathy Kutch, Nancy Ruby, Jamie Fuller and Butch Derrick.

Marsden also visited Hefner and Putnam City North Tuesday morning for an assembly in his honor and for question and answer sessions in some of the classrooms.

The Putnam City Foundation would like to express its sincere gratitude to the Marsden family and to our wonderful Putnam City community for making the Putnam City Foundation "Shining Star" Celebration a night to remember.
