Author Mike Thaler Visits Putnam City Elementary Schools

Author Mike Thaler Visits Putnam City Elementary Schools

During the week of May 3-7, 2010, well-known author Mike Thaler visited over 4,000 Putnam City district students, entertaining them with riddle-making and bringing his stories to life.  Many students and teachers participated, providing various sound effects (even burps!).  At the end of his presentations, Thaler encouraged students to dream big, and even gave them some practical tips for achieving their dreams.

The Putnam City Foundation continues to support the Author Visits program, which brings well-known authors to Putnam City schools and provides books to several district students.  For more information about this and other programs, please contact us at 405-495-5200 x1205 or email cgist@putnamcityschools.org.

The mission of the Putnam City Foundation is to enrich and enhance educational opportunities in the Putnam City schools.

This is excltay what s gunna happen when Obama takes on edu reform. People will irrationally characterize charter schools as if they re death panels, which they aren t. Fear mongering only gets you so far people. Typically I like reading the comments on here SV, but some of these comments remind me of the comments that people put on the Times or PI; fear, half truths, blatant lies, misinformation, red herrings and rhetoric, rhetoric, rhetoric. Can we please just bask in the glow and happiness that 107 young Black men are going to college because of this particular program? WTF is wrong with people that they can t support that? I thnk THAT says a lot. Maybe charters really ARE successful with African American kids, and that s why some people hate them so much- education prevents THEM from keeping US down.
